Equipment

  • 1 Steamer
  • puto molder

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 6 tbsps tapioca flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsps annatto powder for coloring
  • 2 tsps lye water

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix flours and brown sugar.
  • Add water.
  • Add the annatto powder.
  • Add lye water.
  • Mix until all the ingredients are well combined. The batter will be runny.
  • Strain the mixture to remove the bubbles and undissolved annatto powder.
  • Pour the mixture into the puto molds.
  • Steam for 40 minutes.
  • Let it cool before removing from the molds.
  • Enjoy!
