Manong Fishball Sauce

Do you have fishball / squidball / kikiam but no sauce? Crave no more for Manong’s fishball sauce because the recipe is here.  It is very easy to make and ingredients are easy to gather.

  • 1 liter Water
  • 4 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 tbsp Flour
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar If you want a sweeter sauce, then feel free to add more.
  • 5 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 small onion minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pc Sili/chilli cut in small pieces If you prefer more spicy sauce, add 1 or more.


  • In a saucepan, mix water, soy sauce, cornstarch, flour, sugar until the dry ingredients are dissolved.
  • Put the sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Cook until the mixture boils, stirring constantly.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients - garlic, onions, chili and salt then lower the heat.
  • Stir the sauce through continuously until it reached the desired texture and then remove from heat.
